Dan Ringo is a licensed Michigan attorney who has worked on virtually every side of the labor and employment relationship. His unique career experience allows him to understand the practical realities facing employers, employees, labor organizations, and public officials, enabling him to provide strategic, balanced counsel grounded in firsthand experience.
Dan began his labor relations experience serving as a union steward, bargaining unit representative, and Executive Director of a statewide labor organization in Michigan. He later transitioned to the employer side, holding positions ranging from frontline manager and supervisor to executive and C-suite leadership roles. He has advised organizations on collective bargaining, grievance administration, workplace investigations, progressive discipline, policy development, labor-management relations, and organizational compliance.
In addition to his executive leadership experience, Dan has owned and operated a business with unionized employees represented by two separate bargaining units, giving him direct experience navigating the complexities of collective bargaining agreements, contract administration, and day-to-day labor relations from an employer's perspective.
Dan also served in municipal government as a Director of Public Works, where he managed public operations, supervised city employees, addressed labor and personnel matters, and balanced the unique demands and accountability that accompany public service. His experience spans private industry, public sector government, nonprofit organizations, and labor organizations, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and operational challenges faced by municipal employers and institutions.
This uncommon combination of experiences enables Dan to anticipate issues from multiple viewpoints and develop practical, defensible solutions that minimize risk while supporting organizational objectives.
Dan earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Wayne State University and has clerked with the Michigan State Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the AFL-CIO, experiences that further shaped his practical and well-rounded approach to the practice of law.
